Some of us love this time of year - Fall - at least in the Northern Hemisphere. It brings a chill. It snaps us out of complacency. It reminds us that the only true constant in life is change. We notice the temperature drop, the new color.
We feel it even if we don’t consciously acknowledge it.
Why?
Because any change - even seasonal ones poke your mind. The Mind (aka Ajna) doesn't like being poked. It craves certainty.
It pressures you to have a plan, get organized and account for every moment of the future.
Life doesn’t work that way. It isn’t linear. You can only anticipate so much. Just like I had no idea a nine month adventure to learn French would turn into a nine year life in France.
And oh, what I would have missed if I had said, “Uh, no, that isn’t what I planned.”
At the same time, the last nine years have taken me down paths of conditioned behavior, joy, love, thrill rides, and let’s get real… in inevitable crash and readjustment when the ride came to a halt.
And I wouldn’t trade all the peek moments for all the valleys. Because the only thing we ever have control over is how we respond to what life presents.
If you want to make the best decisions with the least amount of “learning opportunities”... LOL… buckle up. Get to know yourself. Stop focusing on what others are doing or not doing. Focus on you and that still small voice that says, “This is the way.. Walk in it.”
Because this month will be a freefall into that thing we call faith…. Learn to trust… and enjoy the ride.
